Audition information for 2023-2024
We will be uploading videos OR providing G Drive or YouTube links for auditions. This is handled through the audition sign up form.
BRASS AND WOODWINDS - Excerpts and a solo (solo no longer than 3-4min). Form/videos are due SATURDAY SEPT 2ND at 11:59 p.m.
If you are interested in auditioning on piccolo, you must audition on flute. You do NOT need to play/record a solo on piccolo.
If you are interested in auditioning on english horn, you must audition on oboe. You do NOT need to play/record a solo on english horn.
If you are interested in playing bass clarinet please contact Dr. Ward.
Trombone - you may audition for tenor OR bass, but you are strongly encouraged to audition on both.
BRASS - while the standard number is 4-5.3.3.1, we often accept more players than that for rotating, fanfares, and additional parts.
STRINGS - Excerpt and a solo (solo no longer than 3-4min). Reminder this is for placement in the section(s) ONLY. Form/videos are due SATURDAY SEPT 2ND at 11:59 p.m. We WILL meet the first day of class MONDAY AUG 28TH but we will not rehearse.
PERCUSSION - No audition required. Sign up only.
University students - auditioning does not enroll you in the class. Make sure you take care of that with your advisor at your institution. I STRONGLY encourage you to go ahead and enroll in orchestra if you are auditioning. It is much easier to drop a class than add one!!
